The 2012 Titirangi Festival of Music

Once again a huge success in its seventh year season!

Over the festival week we have had everything from experimental middle eastern-rock fusion,  high class Jazz, young musicians on their first stage performance, NZ's finest rising stars, funk, rock n roll, and even singing Pirates. The Village day could well have been the best ever, with Titirangi crammed with happy festival goers from morning till night enjoying jazz brunch, street performances, and eventually a village style mardi gras with dancing in the streets.

Highlights include The Trons, NZ's first robot band, a pumping gig in the hall with Iva Lamkum, Paddy Free, & BlackSandDiva, fabulous performances from many locals and a great family day with a heap of activities for kids. The weather shone down on the beautiful artistic haven of Titirangi all week, and who could forget Heathermeg's fabulous 'village make over', re designing the roundabout, flags and banners, and 2012's beautiful logo design. Even ol Henry Atkinson put on his glad rags. A huge thank you to all our sponsors, participants, volunteers, and YOU!

Check back soon as well have some photos from the 2012 festival, and we look forward to keeping you posted on whats coming up for 2013.......

Art in Motion

Art In Motion 2Art in Motion is a creative collaboration to make a stop motion video for the TFM music festival inspired by the late NZ artist Len Lye. Students from Glen Eden Intermediate participated in a workshop coordinated by Youthtown and Lopdell House Gallery to make large abstract paintings onto perspex and document each change of the paint. This kaleidoscopic documentation will now be transformed using photoshop techniques by the students then looped into a stop motion work.

The resulting projected images will be on a large screen behind some of the bands at the Young Guns concert at Zeal. It will also be projected at the late night at the theatre along side some experimental music (see events).
